Introducing the Edenvale Spanish Expedition Range

We are proud to launch our new Spanish Expedition Range, as a homage to the Iberian region, one of the most significant viticultural territories in the world.

So please say hola and bienvenidos to our new Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon, Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc and Sparkling Cuvee – three premium European inspired varietals that offer a superior alcohol-removed alternative for those looking to drink consciously. And as per our entire range, these wines all have the same alcohol content of less than 0.5%.

While we can’t physically travel internationally just yet, our palates can travel the globe with these three new classic Spanish wines. Read on to find out more about them and what they offer fine wine lovers in terms of palate, aroma and characteristics. We take a look at their origin and history in Spain and also give some tips on which foods to pair them with.

Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon

Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon

We are so excited about our new Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep rich red in colour, this wine has delicious notes of blackberry bramble and fig and the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon enriches these fruit flavours. Our drop also has a purple edge, with a smooth, rich, spicy finish.

Tempranillo is the most widely planted grape in Spain, and the main component of Rioja. Historical records indicate it has been grown in the region since the Phoenician era. It is known for being a full bodied drop with a fruit profile that tends towards ripe red fruits. And it’s name ‘Temprano’, means ‘early’ as the vine matures earlier than other Spanish varietals. It is also known as Tinto del Pais (wine of the country/nation) and Tinta del Toro (wine of the bull) in Spain.

Food pairing: Tempranillo is the perfect red wine to pair with your next charcuterie and cheese board, or use it in a fruity summer jug of Sangria.

Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc

Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc

Our Verdejo Sauvignon Blanc is light, bright with hints of fennel and grapefruit aromatics – the perfect summer wine! The addition of Sauvignon Blanc adds richness, aromatic tropical flavours and a refreshing after note to what is Spain’s most popular white wine.

Verdejo wines are from the Rueda area of the Castilla y Leon region, just north of Madrid, a high plateau known for producing a crisp, clean and refreshing drop. After being introduced from North Africa more than 1,000 years ago, Verdejo grapes were used to produce sherry, but today they are better known for their intense aromas and use in white wines.

Food pairing: Our Verdejo pairs wonderfully with seafood and is the perfect drop on a hot Aussie day.

Spanish Sparkling Cuvee

Spanish Sparkling Cuvee

Our new Spanish style Sparkling Cuvee is enhanced by the rich stone fruit notes of Chardonnay, resulting in a crisp and classic Spanish sparkling wine that has fresh citrus and apricot aromas, and a refreshing tingle of acidity on the finish. This is a must-have at your next celebration!

Even though Spanish winemakers travelled to France to learn their trade in the 17th Century, they truly made it their own. This was confirmed when they gave their sparkling wine a local name: Cava, which is Catalan for cave or cellar. Unlike French sparklers from Champagne, the Spanish versions – including Cava and Cuvee – are designed to be affordable and easy drinking.

Food pairing: Pair our Sparkling Cuvee with Spanish tapas dishes like Manchego cheese, olives, almonds, smoked salmon and fine hams of course.

You can order our Expedition Series of Spanish varietals online at shopedenvale.com.au, sansdrinks.com.au or craftzero.com.au.
